Singapore

Singapore is much more than the sum of its numerous attractions. It's continuously evolving, reinventing, and reimagining itself, with people who are passionate about creating new possibilities.

It's where foodies, explorers, collectors, action seekers, culture shapers, and socializers meet―and new experiences are created every day. Let's check out the best places to visit in Singapore and the right time.

Best time to visit:

Singapore is—for the most part—a year-round destination, the months of February to April fall within Singapore's dry season and experience (a least a tad) less rainfall than other times of the year.

Night Safari

The Night Safari is the world's first nocturnal zoo and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Singapore.

The Night Safari currently houses over 900 animals representing over 100 species, of which 41% are threatened species. Wildlife Reserves Singapore manages the Night Safari, and about 1.3 million visitors visit the safari per year. The Night Safari received its 11 millionth visitor on 29 May 2007.

Unlike traditional nocturnal houses, which reverse the day-night cycle of animals so they will be active by day, the Night Safari is an entire open-air zoo set in a humid tropical forest that is only open at night. It is divided into seven geographical zones, which can be explored either on foot via four walking trails, or by tram.

Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo, formerly known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens or Mandai Zoo and now commonly known locally as the Singapore Zoo, occupies 28 hectares (69 acres) on the margins of Upper Seletar Reservoir within Singapore's heavily forested central catchment area. From the beginning, Singapore Zoo followed the modern trend of displaying animals in naturalistic, 'open' exhibits with hidden barriers, moats, and glass between the animals and visitors. It houses the largest captive colony of orangutans in the world.

Animals are kept in spacious, landscaped enclosures separated from the visitors by dry and wet moats. The moats are concealed with vegetation or dropped below the line of sight. Dangerous animals that can climb well are housed in landscaped glass-fronted enclosures.

The zoo also offers various modes of rides available within the premises: trams, animals, boat, pony and horse carriage rides.
